Motorcyclist Training Course (MTC)
Designed for the novice rider with no (or limited) street-riding experience, this course includes two, classroom sessions coupled with on-cycle skills taught on our outdoor range. You will learn fundamental skills required to operate the motorcycle and progress to street riding skills and strategies. Topics covered include fear, understanding how motorcycles turn, proper cornering strategies, and emergency crash avoidance skills. The course is based on the most current research in rider safety and utilizes modern training methods. Though designed for new riders, any rider that has not taken a motorcycle course will benefit from this clinic. Upon successful completion of the course students will be mailed a DL-389 DMV certificate within ten business days. Motorcycles are provided, and if needed, the helmet. If you prefer learning on a scooter, email us to reserve one. Please note: riding a two-wheeled bicycle is a prerequisite for taking the MTC.

- Any potential student who possesses a license that has been restricted due to one or more convictions for driving while impaired may not participate until all restrictions have been lifted.
Attendance Policies
Be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of each session. All sessions will start promptly as scheduled and students are required to attend the full length of the course. If you are late, you will be considered a "no-show" and you need to reregister and repay. In the event of rain (not just the forecast of rain) all students must show up for the sessions as scheduled. The instructor will determine if it is safe to continue with the session. If you do not show and you fail to call in advance, you will be considered a “no-show.”

Refunds/Transfers
Please contact our office to request to withdraw from a class or transfer to a new date. A refund will be granted, less $15, provided the request is received by our office at least three (3) business days prior to the start date. Refunds are granted back to the original form of payment if paid by credit card, or electronic voucher on student account if paid by any other form of payment. If original credit card is unable to be credited, an electronic voucher will be issued. We will no longer accept payment via check as of July 1, 2024. If you decide to transfer your class date, we must receive your request at least three (3) business days prior to the start date. Only one transfer is allowed and there are no refunds should you decide to cancel later. There is no guarantee of passage or licensure. Community Education courses are self-supporting. We count on registration fees for our instructors' salaries and to cover supply and equipment costs; therefore, we cannot provide refunds or transfers with less than three (3) business days' notice. A full refund is automatically granted if the class is cancelled by the Community Education Office.

Student who attend all sessions and pass both a written and riding exam will receive a DL389 completion certificate for the DMV. This certificate may waive the skills test on the motorcycle, but ALL students will have to take a written test at the DMV before a license or permit is issued. There is no guarantee that you will successfully complete the course or receive a license. We are committed to doing everything we can to make this an enjoyable, fun and safe learning experience; however, keep in mind that motorcycling is not for everyone. Successful completion of this class does not guarantee your safety as a motorcyclist. If you are unable to safely keep up with the class or safely proceed on to other exercises you will, at the discretion of the instructor, be asked to leave the course. With the instructor’s recommendation, you may reschedule for a later date and you may have to repeat one or more sessions. The instructor's decision is based solely on your safety and the safety of the other students. Their decision is final and you will not receive a refund of your registration fee. Please allow up to 10 business days for the processing of your certificate. Unfortunately, we cannot expedite certificates and they are not available for pickup at this time.
