Have you hit a dead end in your family history research and aren’t sure where to go next? Learn practical strategies for breaking through common genealogy “brick walls” by moving beyond basic searches and exploring more advanced research techniques. Participants will discover how to use historical context, evaluate evidence, and work across multiple genealogical databases to uncover new clues and previously hidden family connections. Deeper search strategies using platforms such as Ancestry and FamilySearch will be demonstrated, along with an introduction to the fundamentals of genetic genealogy. You’ll also learn how to analyze records, identify alternative historical sources, and develop new research pathways when traditional searches come up empty. Designed for beginner-to-intermediate genealogists who have already started building a family tree, this session provides valuable tools for deepening research skills and uncovering ancestors that may have seemed impossible to find.
